FOOTBALL | Rochester 13.8 – 86 v Mansfield 5.6 – 36

We are having a really challenging period at the moment. We still cannot get any flow into our ball movement. This was evident on the weekend as we were only able to put up 36 points for the game. I imagine the game would have been a frustrating spectacle for those who were watching as we continually played slowly and stagnantly on offence. I challenged the group before the game to be more daring with our ball movement; however, this didn’t come to fruition. We will continue to work on this facet of the game going forward.

Despite all the injuries we have, we expect more from ourselves than we have produced over the last few weeks.

This weekend will be a big challenge for us coming up against an in form Echuca. I will be judging our performance on the spirit and effort we show rather than the result of the game.

NETBALL | Rochester 40 v Mansfield 39

Rochester A graders are positioned very similar to us this season, and with a lot on the line for both teams, we knew it would be a very well fought out game.

We came into the game with a full team, and confidence in what we needed to put out on court. We consistently start these tough games strong and forcing our opposition to alter their game, Saturday, saw us up 9-2 halfway through the first quarter. An incredible start by the girls, but unfortunately a big lapse at the end of the first quarter and in the second quarter, saw us lose that lead faster then we got it.

Our consistency, and ability to play 4 full quarters, is something we need to work on if we are going to have any chance at competing with teams in the top 6.

our ability to fight back in the second half was more then impressive.

To come back from a 7 point deficit at 3 qrt time, to only lose by 1 point in the dying seconds will hopefully be a big confidence booster going into the next few rounds.

The strength in our defensive end, which sits in the top 3 defence ends in the league, has pushed our defensive pressure all over the court to improve. Enabling more and more opportunities at goal, and seeing more goals converted by our attack end.

Hoping to continue to use our teams diverse strengths and focus in on improving our consistency on court coming up against top 6 teams in the next two rounds.

Another huge thank you to the supporters, in particular the Reserves boys, for their vocal support on Saturday!
