Mansfield Football Club legend Christian “Fish” Thomson was appointed coach of the Eagles reserves on the weekend for season 2021.

Christian is a past senior and reserves coach of the Eagles, a best and fairest winner for the seniors and reserves and his vast experience and knowledge of the game will be an enormous asset for the Eagles.

Ian “Willy” wimont was previously coach of the reserves, but he has decided to step down for health reasons. The really good news about all this is that Willy will still be around the club to help out wherever possible. His presence will be a big plus for the Eagles this season.

Christian’s football career began to make big steps forward from when he played with Carlton Under 19’s and reserves back in the mid 80’s. From there he moved to South Australia to play senior football with North Adelaide and Port Adelaide.

It is so exciting to have Christian back in a coaching roll at the club. He is very dedicated and a good teacher of the game for the many young players in the reserves this season.

Well done Christian for stepping up and helping the eagles this season. It is an absolute pleasure to have you in full swing at the club again.
