Round 1 – Seymour 12.11-83 v Mansfield 11.13-79 (Away)

The weekends game against Seymour at Kings Park we showcased some really good football and some really ordinary football.

A large portion of the game we were on top barring a 15 minute block at the start of the 2^nd quarter where we couldn’t get our hands on the football.

Seymour capitalised on our lack of pressure around stoppage. Their quick spread and pure ball movement left our backs in vulnerable 1v1 situations. Phil Solomon proved to be a handful for us up forward. His explosive movement and classy finishing ability which we really could not find an answer for.

Our boys showed a huge amount of character to work our way back into the game after half time.

Our boys showed a huge amount of character to work our way back into the game after half time. However, we were unable to capitalise on multiple shots at goal in the last quarter to help us seal the deal.

It’s important for us going forward to understand the momentum swings that happen in a game of football and improve our ability to absorb patches of high intensity and pressure from our opposition without giving up big scores in the process.

We look forward to heading back to our home deck this weekends game. Mooroopna were comprehensively beaten over the weekend and will be up for the challenge.
